MTECHTIPS;-India Pepper may remain bearish on bumper crop, poor exports
pepper prices likely to remain volatile on higher production expectations, poor export demand and cheaper produce from other pepper producing countries like Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia and others.Right now, Indian farmers are willing to hold their produce to earn better prices in near future. Lower supply and the advent of new crop in the market are expected to pull down the pepper prices in the market. In the international market Indian pepper is priced around $ 7,250 a ton and on the other hand Indonesia and Vietnam pepper prices are far lower than Indian pepper prices. A significant rise in world pepper production may directly cause to fall in the prices of Indian pepper- say experts. On the spot market, pepper was traded at Rs. 357-358 a kg at Kochi in Kerala state on Monday.
